5 days post op

It has been 5 days since the boys' surgery. D-Burger has breezed through just like we knew he would. You cant keep that kid down. More on this later.

Goo is still struggling. Every morning is a bad morning. His bounce back time is getting shorter. I didn't set my alarm last night like I have been since Wednesday. Every 4 hours I have been getting up & giving him his meds. I cant imagine the pain the poor little bugger has every time he swallows when the drugs wear off. So.....I have been trying to ease this the best I can. During the day its not bad as long as he's talking, eating & drinking his throat stays moist and we manage with every 6 hours & some ibuprofen. At night its not the same. He doesn't breathe through his mouth as much but he still gets pretty dried out. The first couple of mornings I let him go 6-8 hours without waking him up for drugs. He was sleeping so good I didnt wanna bug him...that was a bad idea. Thats why I set the alarm & drug him up. But, today he took his 'nasty medicine' (liquid lortab) and he was wanting some cocoa in less than 30 mins. SCORE!

Ok....Sunday. Sundays for me are never super awesome. Never have been. But, yesterday there were a couple of funny things.
We went to see How to Train Your Dragon. Cute flick.
Alley Kat& The Littleman Ugh. Ok, so I was on the innernets trying to figure out what to do to boost Goo's recovery and I noticed Alley Kat& Littlemans noses. Blue noseholes not normal. Littleman's was much runnier & kinda smeary from his chin to his forehead and he was still digging.
Me,"wussup Littleman?"
Him, "Alley Kat did it fuhst."
Me, "did whut first?"
Him, "this." and then he snots out a blue piece of candy from his nosehole. ('member Sixlets)
It was funny/grody and brought back memories of when I had to take Sparky to the ER to get the earplug out of his nostril when he was 4. Good times.

Then we went to the movie, came home had Ravi-holies for supper, watched Minute to Win It (cool show) and I started putting everyone to bed. D-Burger was still pretty wound up and made it very clear he wasn't tired. He was being pretty silly as always. I finally told him that he had to go to sleep because he had to get up early for school. He responded with "MY BIOLOGICAL MOTHER WOULDN'T MAKE ME GO TO BED THIS EARLY!" OMHeck I totally lost it. We laughed and yukked it up for about another 15 minutes and he finally settled down & went to sleep.

Over & out,
The Other Mother
